About

The Mount Field Project

Sussex

Project Overview

Set within the Sussex countryside, The Mount Field Project is a refined example of classic English kitchen design, thoughtfully reimagined for modern living.

Defined by its exposed ceiling beams, soft natural light, and carefully balanced palette, the space feels calm, grounded, and timeless. Designed and handcrafted by Willow Tree Interiors, this bespoke kitchen brings together traditional craftsmanship with a more contemporary sensibility.

Design Highlights

At the centre of the room sits a beautifully proportioned island, finished in a deeper contrasting tone to anchor the space. Paired with a seamless worktop and integrated cooking, it creates a natural focal point for both everyday use and social moments.

Softly fluted pendant lighting above introduces warmth and texture, while the surrounding cabinetry maintains a quieter, more understated presence — allowing the architectural features of the room to lead.

Large glazed doors and traditional window placements flood the space with natural light, enhancing the subtle tones and materials throughout.

Cabinetry & Materials

The cabinetry has been handcrafted using traditional joinery techniques and finished in a soft, muted palette, creating a sense of cohesion and longevity.

A honed marble worktop runs throughout, complemented by a shaped marble splashback detail to the sink — adding a subtle, elegant focal point without overpowering the space.

Aged brass hardware provides contrast and warmth against the painted cabinetry, while also tying in with the lighting and tap finishes for a consistent, considered look.

Space & Flow

The layout has been designed to feel both open and intuitive. The island encourages connection — whether used for casual dining, preparation, or gathering — while the perimeter cabinetry provides generous storage without overwhelming the room.

Every element has been carefully positioned to ensure the kitchen works effortlessly for day-to-day living, while still offering a sense of occasion when entertaining.

Conclusion

The Mount Field Project is a quietly confident space — one that doesn’t rely on trends, but instead focuses on proportion, materiality, and craftsmanship.

Rooted in Sussex, and built to last, it reflects our approach to creating bespoke kitchens that feel as good to live in as they do to look at.
