About

The Ashtead Project

Surrey

Project Overview

The Ashtead Project is a warm, grounded and timeless family kitchen that blends classic English cabinetry with a natural, tactile material palette. Working alongside House Nine Design, who designed the entire downstairs layout, we brought their spatial vision to life with handcrafted cabinetry, bespoke detailing and carefully balanced proportions.

The result is a calm and beautifully functional space that anchors the home — rich in character, refined in tone and made for everyday living.

Design & Cabinetry

The main kitchen cabinetry is finished in Farrow & Ball Drop Cloth, a soft, warm neutral that sits effortlessly within the architecture of the space.
The island is crafted in oak and treated with a Mylands Natural Linen Stain, allowing the grain and texture of the timber to remain a prominent feature.

A dedicated walk-in pantry, accessed through an arched opening, extends the kitchen both visually and practically. It provides generous storage while maintaining the warm, cohesive palette found throughout the main kitchen.

Key cabinetry details include:

  • Hand-built in-frame construction

  • Shaker door profiles

  • Birch Ply internals

  • Bespoke island with storage and seating

  • Tailored drawer divisions

  • Integrated dresser and pantry shelving

Worktops, Sink & Brassware

The kitchen is completed with quartz worktops, chosen for their clean aesthetic and durability.

A Shaws fireclay sink pairs beautifully with the timeless Bidbury & Co tap, adding a touch of understated luxury to the main prep area.

Bespoke Extractor Canopy

At the heart of the cooking zone is a fully bespoke extractor canopy, designed and handcrafted by our team. Its layered curves, sculpted corbels and generous proportions create a defining architectural statement within the room.

Flooring & Spatial Design

Warm oak flooring runs throughout the kitchen and supporting spaces, enhancing the natural material palette and grounding the overall design.

The wider downstairs layout — meticulously planned by House Nine Design — provides a seamless flow between kitchen, dining and living zones, ensuring the space functions beautifully for a modern family home.
